Education and Empowerment

Helena Kaushik Education Foundation believes that higher education is essential for building human capital and leadership capacity in women in their chosen professions and vocations.

Educate a woman and you educate a family; Educate many women and you educate a community, a society and, ultimately, a nation.

There is no better tool for development than the education — and empowerment — of women.

Among other institutions and programs, the Kaushik Foundation supports Mrs. Helena Kaushik Women’s College in Rajasthan state in India.

Founded in 1999, the Mrs. Helena Kaushik Women’s (Post-Graduate) College is committed to educating women in a country where only one and a half percent of women had earned a college degree as of 2004. This private, non-profit college in rural India stands out as an extraordinary beacon of hope and promise, providing higher education for women where no such opportunity existed in the area before.

In its founding year, this fully accredited college enrolled 35 students from 19 neighboring villages and hamlets. By 2014, the college had graduated about 2,000 students, as its excellent reputation spread, attracting students from neighboring states.

The successful formula provided an all female student body, a highly qualified faculty, a diversity of degree programs (B.A., B.Sc., M.A. and M.Sc.), and the safety of an enclosed modern residential 30-acre campus catering to the needs of day and resident students.
